Mrs. Judith D. "Judy" (Kistler) Harris

Mrs. Judith D. “Judy” Harris, 78, of Lehighton passed away Wed. Nov. 23rd at The Gnaden Huetten Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Harris who passed away Jan. 19, 2014. Born in Palmerton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Warren A. & Mary Esther Dunn Kistler. She served as a housewife/homemaker supporting her  loving family’s endeavors. Judy was a very active member of Zion UCC, Lehighton where she volunteered her time with the Zion Opera Workshop, the Sr. Bell Choir,the Chancel Choir, the Altar Guild, the Church Housekeeping Volunteers, & The Church Search Committee.She was a member of the choirs at Zion UCC since 1948. A community minded person, she was an organizer and served as secretary for the Lehighton Area Halloween Parade Committee. She served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 82, and held a membership at The Lehighton American Legion Post 314 Ladies Auxiliary. She served as the treasurer for the Lehighton Area High School Class of 1956 reunion committee, where she helped organize the  Class of 1956 60th year class reunion.  She served as a co-advisor for The Lehighton High School Band Front, & volunteered as a Lehighton Area Booster Club Football cheerleading coach for the Oklahoma Team. She enjoyed  her family and in her spare time, watched the Philadelphia Phillies play professional baseball and kept company with her canine friend “Phillie”. Surviving is a son, George Harris & his wife Patricia of Lehighton, 2 daughters, Tracy, wife of Robert Strohl III of Poughkeepsie, NY, Julie Harris of Lehighton, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Warren Harding Kistler, Alton Amandus Kistler, & Robert F. Kistler. A Celebration Of Life Service in her honor will be held on Monday, Nov.28th at 11 a.m. at Zion UCC, 225 Iron St., Lehighton with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Bannerman officiating. Call 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to Zion UCC Music Fund, or Zion UCC Opera Workshop, 225 Iron St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235 or The Lehighton Area Halloween Parade, 353 Bridge St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
