On Saturday, September 15th, William H. “Bill” Polk of Lehighton peacefully ended his battle with ALS. His wishes were to be remembered as you knew him best: A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, nephew, friend, & mechanic. He was the husband of Carla A. (Wentz) Polk. They were married for 41 years on October 16th of 2017. Born in Hazleton, Pa. on October 8, 1958, he was the son of Joann Barachie Polk of Jim Thorpe. Bill was a master mechanic for many years working for Kovatch Dealerships, Pol-Bar Automotive Repair co-ownership, and until his illness, was very proud to be the owner-operator of WH Polk Automotive Repair in Lehighton, along with his loving wife Carla. Bill was a graduate of The Carbon County Technical Institute where he studied auto-mechanics and was very proud of his many Automotive Service Excellence certifications. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, North St. Jim Thorpe. In his spare time, he could be found riding his Harley Davidson Road King, working on cars, and spending cherished time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife & mother is a son, Christopher S. Polk & his wife Kristin of Fleetwood, a sister, Patti Jo Bloom, of Jim Thorpe, 2 grandsons Evan William, & Connor James Polk, mother in law, Elaine E. “Toots” Wentz, nieces & nephews.
