Rodney E. Snyder, Sr., 85, of Lehighton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tamaqua.
He was the husband of Shirley R. (Goldberg) Snyder. They were married for 63 years in June.
Born in Palmerton on February 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Clayton and Minnie (Cunfer) Snyder.
He was a mechanic for Lehigh Valley Railroad/Conrail. He was owner/operator of Bowmans Super Service, Bowmanstown for 14 years. He last worked as a machinist for Allentown Equipment, Allentown until retirement.
He enjoyed collecting and restoring AMC cars and going to car shows on the East coast.
He was a member of the Lehighton Senior Center for 17 years and enjoyed their events and the Carbon County Senior Games.
Surviving are daughters Bonnie Snyder and her companion John Oblick of Bowmanstown; and Linda Billig of Palmerton; a son Rod Snyder, Jr. and wife Lorraine of Lehighton; granddaughters Olivia Fetch, Amanda Bauer, Sarah Matika and Samantha Haberman; great grandsons Trever and Travis Haberman.
He was predeceased by sisters Frances Deganich, June Bubick, Betty Sterling and Jeanette Hartman; brothers Winfield Snyder, Thomas Snyder and Colin Snyder. He was also predeceased by a son-in-law Bradley Billig.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 11th at 11 a.m.in The Lehighton Cemetery, 4th & Alum Street, Lehighton, Pa.
