Rodney Preston Hausman

Rodney Preston Hausman, 71, left this world for the next, Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, in his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was the husband of Anita M. (Dorozinsky) Hausman. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Aug. 27 of last year.

Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late Preston and Marion (Haydt) Hausman.

He was a graduate of Slatington High School Class of 1969.

He was employed by Caloric in Topton for 20 years, Scotmaid in Weissport, Cedar Crest College, Gnaden Hutten Memorial Hospital and Northern Lehigh School District until retiring.

He was a member of Zion UCC Church, Lehighton. He was also a member of the Slatington Skeet and Sporting Association, lifetime member of Star Hose Company No. 1, Emerald, and a member of Diamond Fire Company No. 1, Walnutport.

He was an active baseball, basketball and softball player into his mid 50's. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Adam and friends or teaming up with anyone that had an open spot on their tee time.

Rodney loved all sports, either watching them on TV, going to live sporting events, or reading about them in the local Times News or Morning Call newspapers. He was an avid Penn State fan. He was also a coach for the Northern Lehigh Booster Club and the Franklin Township Athletic Association. He was a PIAA basketball referee for over 20 years.

Surviving, along with his wife are sons Michael of York, and Adam of Lehighton; a daughter, Nicole Warner, and her husband Clayton III, of Lehighton; sisters, Peggy Ziegenfuss, and her husband James, and Susan Chandler, and her husband Eugene, both of Slatington; brothers, Roger Haydt, and his wife Barbara, of Andreas, Dwight Hausman of Walnutport, Ronald Hausman, and his wife Carol, of Slatington, and Jeff Hausman, and his wife Crystal, of Slatington; grandchildren, Isabel, Sebestian, Peyton, Jordan and Landon;  and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded by a sister, Louise Clancy.

Service: A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home Inc., 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton, with Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in St. John Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Thursday, 10-11 a.m. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
