Mr. Richard J. Fink, 69, of Franklin Township, Pa., passed into eternal rest on Sat. Jan. 9th at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, Pa. Born in Palmerton, Pa. on Wed. April 4th, 1951, he was a son of the late Richard W. & Eva (Homyak) Fink. Dick served our country with the United States Marine Corps overseas in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam war attaining the rank of Lance Corporal with the 8th Engineering Battalion. He was the former owner of the Weissport House for 10 years and was a bartender at The Lehighton American legion Post 314 for many years. He also was a Christmas tree grower in the local area for many years. Dick was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton. He was a very active member of The Lehighton American Legion Post 314 where he served as Post Commander, Adjutant and Secretary. He held Life memberships with the Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club, The Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, The Lehigh Fire Co. #1, and held a membership with the Palmerton VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed his family, camping, hiking, and his pet cat “Baby”. Surviving is a sister, Judy A., wife of Richard Schnell of Palmerton, a brother, Barry J. Fink and his wife Judy of Lehighton, & 4 nieces. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14th at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton with the Reverend Nancy L. Moore officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. Interment with full military honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO and the VVOCC in the Gnaden Huetten Cemetery.
