Ralph Warburton McElvar Jr., 72, Mahoning township, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, June 6th.
He spent his working career as a Detail Draftsman, but he will always be remembered for his armchair expertise in just about anything, while able to “McElvar/MacGyver“ everything in the house. He had a love of music, which included collecting and playing guitars, ukuleles, the harmonica, and his grandfather’s musical saw. Ralph built and flew his own ultralight plane and enjoyed fishing. He was known for his delicious Sunday dinner meatballs and perfected French onion soup. He created the family tradition of an epic Easter Sunday road rally and was especially talented at always making his family laugh.
He is reunited with his parents, Mae and Ralph W. McElvar Sr. and son-in-law, Kevin J. Doll. He is survived by: His wife of 45 years, Susan S. McElvar, his favorite oldest daughter Lindsey S. McElvar-Nace, son-in-law Jarred Nace, and granddaughters Quinn and Sophie of Mt. Airy, MD; his favorite youngest daughter, Kit McElvar, and cheeseburger buddy and grand dog, Winnie, of Jim Thorpe, PA; older sisters, Liz Knoll of Fairmont, WV and Linda Godwin of Columbia, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter, the LCCC Foundation, or go outside and take your kids fishing.

A Remembrance gathering will be held at the Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club on Saturday June 22, 2024 from 2-5 p.m.
