Philip A. Stimmel, 73, of Lehighton passed away on Wednesday February 1 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. He was the son of the late George and Myrtle (Richmond) Stimmel. He was preceded in death by son , Eric Haupt, a brother George and sisters Mary Jane Eckhart and Joan David.
Phil was a truck driver for East Penn Trucking and others firms before his retirement. In his younger years he played guitar with Angie and the Strangers, the Captives of Solitude, Thrill, The Outsiders ,The Destination and others bands in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. Phil was an avid golfer and played regularly for many years.
Phil is survived by long time friend and companion Gretta Serfass, a granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 3rd at 6 p.m. at Ovsak Funeral Home 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with SALM Emma Weaver officiating. Call 5-6 p.m. on Friday. Private Interment. Phil was devoted to his cats so contributions in his name may be made to The Carbon County Animal Shelter at 63 Broad Street Nesquehoning or the Carbon County Friends of Animals at 77 West 13th Street Jim Thorpe.
