Past Master Richard Zimmerman Obituary

Brother Richard Lee Zimmerman, 86, of East Penn Township was called off from labor on Sunday, April 27th at his residence. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Rex) Zimmerman who passed away Feb. 28, 2019. Born in Lehighton on Thursday, August 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Willard & Mabel (Homm) Zimmerman. He served our country with the US Army during the Viet Nam war attaining the rank of SP-4 (T). Prior to his retirement, he was employed as the director of safety & maintenance at MTS, Northampton, Pa. and was employed most recently at Service Tire Truck Centers. Richard was member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield. He was a very active member of Lehighton Lodge F&AM Lodge #621 where he served as Worshipful Master and most recently served as Lodge Chaplain. He held a membership in The Lehigh Consistory, Valley Of Allentown, & Rajah Shrine, Reading, Pa. He enjoyed a good round of Golf and spending time with his wife and family. He and his wife toured 49 states and traveled the Alcan Highway 2 times. Surviving are 2 daughters, Diane Zimmerman of Brodheadsville, Leisa Ahner (Milton "Mick") of Towamensing township, 2 sons, Guy Zimmerman (Janet) of Jordan Utah, Lee Zimmerman ( Shelly) of Reno Nevada, a sister, Jean Petrie (William) of Payson, Arizona, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Janet Zimmerman. A Graveside Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Monday, May 5th at 11 a.m. in Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, 1742 Dinkey Road, Ashfield, Pa. with the Reverend Anthony P. Pagotto officiating. Masonic Services will be conducted as well as Full Military Honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to the Lehighton Lodge #621 Scholarship Fund  145 N. 7th St. Lehighton, Pa. 18235 or the church at 18212. Online condolences can be offered at ovsakf
