Mrs. Shirley J. Stamm, 92, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Sat. May 4th at The Summit Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr., Lehighton. She was the wife of the late Merlin R. Stamm who passed away, Oct. 27, 2009. Born in Lehighton Pa. on Friday, Jan. 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Kermit E. & Mary L. (Xander) Schnell .Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a clerical/bookkeeper specialist for several local businesses; Sauers Texaco, Lusch Motor Parts, Kriss Pines, and The Hahn & Sons Studebaker/& Dodge dealership. Shirley was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lehighton and volunteered her time with The Lehighton Hospital and other community charities. Surviving are 3 daughters, Shelly Genther (John), Melinda Graver (Companion Jimmy Allesch) of Lehighton, Eileen Fetzer ( Dr. Fred) of Eau Claire Wisconsin, a brother, Keith Schnell (Kay) of Lehighton, sister in law Clara Stamm of Hazleton, 6 Grand & 8 Greatgrandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by a son Robt. M. Stamm in 2013, & 2 brothers, Dale K. & Richard D. Schnell. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 10th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Reverend John Cordes officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Friday. Interment in Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, 4th & Union St., Lehighton. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church Of Lehighton, 3rd & Mahoning St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
