Mrs. Ruth L. (Lentz) Foster

Mrs. Ruth L. Foster, 98, formerly of Mahoning Valley, Pa. for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on Wed. May 19th at Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale, Pa. where she has resided for the past 9 years. She was the wife of the love of her life David J. Foster whom she met at Pottsville High School. David passed away Nov.3rd, 1998. They were married for 54 years at his passing. She & her husband were loved by many of all ages. Born in Pottsville, Pa. on Sunday, August 6, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Paul & Emily Emerich Lentz. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a switchboard operator for The Lehighton Area School District. Ruth enjoyed dancing with her husband, her flower gardens, reading, & spending time with her many friends. She had a special fondness for all children. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley & a member of the Ladies Group of the Mahoning Valley Lions Club. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sally Fitzgerald of Collegeville, Pa., a son, Joseph Foster & his wife Ida of Mountaintop, Pa., 4 grandchildren, Laura Fitzgerald (Steve) Bomberger, David Fitzgerald (Faith), Brian Foster (Karen), Kyle Foster (Jess), 10 great-grandchildren, who gave her great pleasure to her later years, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her much loved son, Paul Foster in 1992 & 2 sisters, Helen Travers, & Jean Boyer.  As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery of Mahoning.
