Mrs. Martha Jane (Famalette) Mulligan

Mrs. Martha Jane Mulligan, 78 of Lehighton, Pa. passed into eternal rest on Sat. May 14th at Thomas Jefferson Univ. Hospital, Phila. Pa. She was the wife of Edmund L. Mulligan Sr. of Lehighton. They were married for 54 years last June 24th, 2021. Born in Hazleton, Pa. on Wed. March 15, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Pasco & Carmela (Curcio) Famalette. Martha was a 1962 graduate of Hazleton High School and furthered her education at Millersville University receiving her bachelors degree in education. She was a fulltime teacher for the Lehighton Area School District in the 1960’s and later worked in the same capacity as a part time  educator. Martha was an active member of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Lehighton where she taught pre-school, CCD classes, and was instrumental in the development of marriage preparation classes. She also served on the Catholic Social Agency Advisory Board. Surviving in addition to her husband are 2 sons, Edmund Mulligan Jr. & his wife Laura of Mt. Wolf, Pa., John Mulligan & his wife Jaime of Carlisle, Pa., a brother, James Famalette & his wife Dwanna of California, 2 grandchildren, Nicholas & Olivia, & 2 nieces, Marisa, & Serina. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Famalette.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20th at 1 pm at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis & Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. officiating. Call 12 noon to 1 pm in the church Friday. Interment following the Mass in the parish cemetery, North 4th St., Lehighton.
