Mrs. Frances M. (Steiner) Schmalzel

Mrs. Frances M. Schmalzel, 95, formerly of Lehighton & Easton Pa. passed into eternal rest on Sunday, April 25th at The Lehigh Center, Macungie, Pa. She was the wife of the late Alfred M. Schmalzel Sr. who passed away, July 22nd, 1982. Born in Northampton, Pa. on Friday, March 12th, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John & Frances (Yanni) Steiner. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the textile industry as a weaver for various silk mills in Jim Thorpe & Catasaqua. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul RC Church, Lehighton and her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family. In her spare time, she enjoyed Polka dancing & Bowling. Surviving are 2 daughters, Patricia F., wife of Philip Knauss Sr. of Lehighton, Pamela J. wife of Lawrence Cramer of Easton, Pa., 2 sons, Anthony J. “Tony” Schmalzel of Lehighton, Alfred M. Schmalzel Jr. & his wife Danielle of S. Carolina, 5 grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson Philip Knauss Jr. & 2 brothers, Louis Steiner  & John Steiner Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial in her honor will be held on Friday, April 30th at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis & Deacon Joseph Wilhelm Jr. officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. Interment in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Please adhere to the COVID 19 social distancing guidelines during the visitation. Facemasks are mandatory.
