Eleanor Helen Ahner, formerly of Long Run, Franklin Township, died Sunday, July 16, at The Summit at St Luke’s, Lehighton, where she had resided for the past 7 years. She was the widow of Harrison E D Ahner, who passed away in 2012. Eleanor was employed by the former Blue Swan Restaurant, and Merluzzi/Helmer’s fashions in Bowmanstown, but was a wife, mother, and homemaker most of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Born in Mantzville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bertine and Alberta (Kocher) Balliet. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda J. Kester of Bowmanstown, Diana, wife of Willard Rimbey of Lehighton, and Lynn Korutz of Lehighton, daughter in law Michele Fredericks of Lehighton, a sister, Gloria Miller Kimball of South Bend, IN, 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons Jan and Michael, brothers Franklin, Donald, and Clark, and a grandson, John Moser.
Private services/interment at the convenience of the family.
