Mrs. Doris I. Serfass, 77, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Monday, July 6 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa. She was the wife of Dennis J. Serfass. They were married for 56 years last December 21, 2019. Born in Palmerton, Pa. on Thursday, December 31, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Melvin & Irene (Koch) Blose. Doris was a graduate of The Lehighton Area High School, Class of 1961. She started her business career in the payroll office of Bishop & Co., Weissport, Pa. for 20 years until the business closed. She then worked in the office of JAMICO, Inc. Penn Forest, Pa. doing Payroll & Bookkeeping for 10 years. She also did Payroll & Bookkeeping and Secretarial work for Martin H. Philip Law Offices before retiring in 1993. An active member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Bowmanstown, Pa., she served as a volunteer treasurer with 25 years of service.While volunteering her time at the church, she served on the administration board, finance committee, parish staff, parish choir, and was an active member of The New Day Gospel Singers Quartet. Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Lisa S. Steigerwalt of Palmerton, a son, The Honorable Judge Steven R. Serfass & his wife Attorney Jenny Cheng of Palmerton, 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Serfass, Hannah Serfass, Olivia Haydt, & Jenna Haydt. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 11 a.m. at Faith Alive UMC, 678 Pine Street, (Bowmanstown) Palmerton, Pa. with the Reverend Robert Timlin officiating. Call 6-8 p.m. Friday July 10th from 6-8 p.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton, Pa. and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
