Obituary

Mrs. Carrie I. Stewart, Centenarian, of Mahoning Valley, passed into eternal rest on Sat. June 10th at  The Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehab. Ctr. She was the wife of the late Robt. S. Stewart Sr. Born in New Mahoning, Pa. on Aug. 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Charles & Mary Jane (Kistler) Frey. She served our country with the United States Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Yeoman 2nd Class.  She was an Allentown Business School graduate and later attended Penn State. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for Air Products. Carrie was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Gnaden Huetten Chapter of The Eastern Star & its Lady Craft. Surviving is a son, Robt. S. Stewart Jr., of Mahoning Valley, a sister, Myrtle Creitz of Mahoning Valley, 4 brothers, Marlin Frey  (Betty) of Mahoning Valley, Donald Frey of Levittown, Charles Frey Jr. of Palmerton, Kermit Frey of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, William, Russell, Harold, Norwood, Paul, & Nevin. A Celebration Of Life memorial service will  be held on Friday, June 16th at 10:30  a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton with the Reverend Anthony P. Pagotto officiating. Call 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the church. Military Interment following the services in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Assn. 902 Mill Road, Lehighton, Pa. 18235 or to the church. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
