Mrs. Anna S. (Kobal) Szoke

Mrs. Anna S. Szoke, 98, formerly of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Saturday May 22nd at The Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Szoke who passed away Feb. 18, 1999. Born in Lehighton on Friday, May 11, 1923, she was a daughter of the late George & Anna ( Radick) Kobal. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the garment industry at various mills in the local area. Anna was a member of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton. She enjoyed working in her yard , tending to her floral beds, taking her daily walk in Lehighton, and traveling the globe. Surviving are 2 sisters, Sandra, wife of Kenneth Schaeffer of Lehighton, Sarah Kripper of Lehighton, a brother, Charles Kobal & his wife Pat of Florida, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joann R. Szoke in 1974, 2 sisters, Rose Ann Kraus, Mary Anagnostou, 3 brothers, John, James (Jake), & George Kobal. A Mass of Christian Burial in her honor will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with the Reverend Christopher M. Zelonis & Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. COVID 19 facemasks are advised. Interment in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.
