Mr. Roger Fisher Obituary

Mr. Roger L. Fisher, 86, of Towamensing Township, Pa., passed away, Monday March 12th at his residence. He was the husband of Barbara G. (Fritz) Fisher. They were married for 67 years this past New Years Eve. Born in Weissport, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel & Leona (Getz) Fisher. Prior to his retirement, he was an insurance agent in the Lehighton area and was the owner/operator of The Fisher Insurance Agency. He previously worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation during the early 1960’s. He formerly attended church services at Jacob’s UCC, Weissport, Pa. A black powder enthusiast, Roger’s life endeavor was muzzle-loading and was a founding member of the 1976 First Frontier Militia of the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club. Several of his black powder writings were nationally published in the Fur, Fish & Game outdoor sportsman’s magazine. In his spare time, he could be found hunting the local woodlands and fishing the Canadian waterways. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Scott Fisher & his wife Dora of Palmerton, Curt Fisher of Lehighton, a grandson Jeffrey Fisher of Georgia, and many black powder friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 16th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with SALM Emma Weaver officiating. Call 9:30 -11 a.m. on Friday. Interment in Franklin Heights Memorial Park, East Weissport, Pa. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to The First Frontier Militia C/O Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton, Pa. 18071.
