Mr. Nevin H. Monk

Mr. Nevin H. Monk, 79, of Lehighton,  passed into eternal rest on Sunday, May 21st at The Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with his loved ones by his side. He fought a courageous battle with lung cancer this past year. He was the husband of Kathy (Rehrig) Eidem Monk. They were married for 14 years. He was previously married to the late Cheryl (Miller) Monk for 25 years at her passing. Born in Palmerton, Pa. on Wed. July 9, 1943, he was a son of the late Wilson & Wanda (Sthare) Monk. He served our country with the US Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War and was assigned to the Panama Canal.  Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by Verizon with 35 ½ years of service. On weekends, Nevin & Kathy enjoyed cruising in his Cobra Mustang. Nevin was a member of Lehighton American Legion Post 314, the Lehighton AMVETS & the Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Sean Monk & his wife Marta, Grandchildren, Levi & Sadie Monk, a stepson, Eric Eidem & his companion, Angelique Teter & his best friend Toby. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Monk. Funeral Services and Interment will be private.
