Mr. Larry E. Markley, 88, of Franklin Township, Pa. passed into eternal rest on Thursday, May 15 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Maureen C. (McLaughlin) Markley who passed away Nov. 26, 2016. Born in E. Weissport, Pa. on Monday, June 22, 1936, he was a son of the late Elliott and Anna May (Berger) Markley. Larry was a well known general contractor in the Carbon County area. He was the owner of Larry's Custom Kitchens and Cabinets for many years. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton, The Western Pocono Sportsman's Assoc. ( President-10 years), & The Franklin Township Lions Club. He served on the Lehighton Area School Board for 10 years, The Franklin Township Zoning Board, The Lehighton Library Board of Directors, and served as a President/Director of The Lehighton Boys & Girls band. In his spare time he could be found catching Walleyes at Beltzville Lake. Surviving are 2 sons, James E. Markley (Melissa), Thomas R. Markley of Franklin Township, a sister, Jan Ellen Haydt (Drue), a brother, George Markley (Nancy) of Lehighton, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Lori Ann Rudelitch in 2003. A Graveside Celebration of Life Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Wed. May 21st at 11 a.m. in The Franklin Heights Memorial Park, E. Weissport with LLM Kathy Long officiating.
