Mr. Larry Allen Markell

Mr. Larry Allen Markell, 74 , of East Penn Township, passed into eternal rest on Tues. Dec. 10th at St. Luke's Hospice, Bethlehem, Pa. He was the husband of Linda S. (Schleicher) Markell. They were married for 51 years on Nov. 3rd of this year. Born in Walnutport, Pa. on Friday, Nov. 3rd, 1950, he was a son of the late Dean & Mamie (Rice) Markell. He was a graduate of The Slatington Area High School. After graduation, he served our country with the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. Prior to his retirement, Larry was employed by the Lehighton Area School District as a custodian. He was well liked and made many friends during his employment. He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield and in his younger years, enjoyed hunting & fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Justin Markell (Kristin), Nathan Markell (Miranda) of Lehighton, 2 sisters, Betty Deibert (Robert) of Slatington, Brenda Deibert (Harry) of Danielsville, 6 grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Frances Evans, Marian Wertman, & a brother, Donald Markell. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 16th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto officiating followed by Military Honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Call 9:30-11 on Monday. Private Interment at the convenience of the family.
