Mr. Lamont Dotter Obituary

Lamont J. Dotter, 87 of Lehighton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15 surrounded by his loving family. He was married to Faye (Kuntz) for 62 years this past Sept. After graduation he attended Penn State University and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a helicopter mechanic, and received a commendation ribbon for service aboard the Coast Guard Icebreaker Westwind while on a mission off the coast of Greenland. He most recently was employed at Marzen Feed and Hardware after retiring from Paris Accessories, Walnutport. Born on April 23, 1935 he was a son of the late Percy U. and Gussie (Solt) Dotter in Weissport. Lamont was a founding member and past president of the Lehighton chapter of the Barber Shop Harmony Society. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir at the church he attended, most recently, Faith Alive U.M. Church, Palmerton. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and if he couldn't fix something or find what was needed, he would build it from his own design. He always looked for the good in others, and family was his top priority. Family camping trips and travelling were many of the highlights of his life. He received his Eagle Scout rank on Dec. 1, 1952, and continued to be active in scouting at Camp Trexler for many years after. He was exceptionally proud when his grandson, Matthew followed in his footsteps and received his Eagle Scout rank. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Evelyn and Jean, an infant son and daughter, son-in-law, Philip Yost, and in-laws Clarence (Tim) and Gertrude Kuntz. Lamont is survived by his loving wife, Faye, daughters Susan, wife of Blaine Eckhart and Lisa, wife of Keith House all of Lehighton. Grandchildren, Matthew Eckhart, Lehighton, Cierra House, CO, Lauren House, Lehighton, Logan Yost, N.C., Philip Yost, E. Norriton, PA, two great granddaughters, Lincoln and Iris. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Faith Alive U.M. Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) Call 10-11 a.m. at the church. Private Interment. Military honors at the church under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Arrangements by Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton.
