Mr. Harold Robert Hawk, 88, of Franklin Township, passed into eternal rest on Tues. Feb. 16th at St. Luke’s Hospital-Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Gloria Margaret (Kleintop) Hawk who passed away Oct. 7th, 2009. Born in Franklin Township, Pa., on Sunday Oct. 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Earl S. & Ada N. (Beer) Hawk. He served our country with the US Army during the Korean War with the 237th Engineering Battalion attaining the rank of Corporal (T). Prior to his retirement he was employed by Mack Trucks, Lehigh County, as a final assembly department technician for 32 years retiring in 1987 and most recently worked for Marzen’s Feed Mill & Hardware, Harrity, as a salesperson. Harold was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Beltzville, Pa. and served on the board of directors of the Lehighton Boys & Girls Band. He was a founding member of The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. where he served on the board of directors and volunteered his time as an active firefighter and a fire police officer. Surviving is a daughter, Hope Ann, wife of James Gavner of Hershey, Pa., 2 sons, Todd R. Hawk & his wife Lisa, Bruce D. Hawk of Franklin Township, 2 sisters, Evelyn Nansteel of East Penn Township, Delores Reph of Dunmore, Pa. 2 grandchildren, Joseph Kuzo, Alesia Bess, 2 great-grandchildren, Owen & Nolan, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Ahner. A Celebration Of Life Service on Union Hill Cemetery in his honor will be announced in the future.
