Mr. Donald E. W. Simmons, 85, of Lehighton, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 29th at Luther Crest Allentown. He was the husband of Elizabeth Ketz Simmons. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Nov. 9th, 2022. Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Earl & Florence (Kuglar) Simmons. Donnie “Simmy” was employed as a chef for 40 years at Trainer’s Inn and later worked at Mallard Markets before his retirement. Donnie loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, & fisherman. He spent hours fishing for Walleye at Beltzville Lake on his beloved boat. He was a dog lover & deeply miss his Shihtzu’s, Casey & CiCi, and many more dogs he loved throughout his life. Surviving is his wife, two daughters, Dawn Roberts, companion of Larry Labatch, Diane, wife of David Koch, of Lehighton, 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Regan, Eddie, Kyle, Kelci, & 11 great-grandchildren. A Celebration Of Life Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Friday, January 6th at 10 a.m. at The A. P. Ovsak Funeral Home 190 South 4th Street, Lehighton, Pa. with Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey officiating. Call 9-10 a.m. Friday. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
