Mr. Dale E. Koons, 88, of Sellersville,Pa., formerly of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, August, 1, 2019 at Hidden Meadows On The Ridge Assisted Living Center, Sellersville, Pa. He was the husband of the late Marie L. (Vaccaro) who passed away November 28, 2004. Born in Lehighton, Pa. on Friday August 22, 1930 he was a son of the late Estella Doll . He served our country with the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal (T) and was the recipient of The Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a department manager for A & P markets, Lehighton, in the grocery business. Dale was a member of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, The Lehighton American Legion Post 314 & its Korean Last Man’s Club, & The Knights Of Columbus, Damien Council, 4th degree knight. Surviving is a daughter, Deanna M., wife of Peter Hansen of Perkasie, Pa., a son, Craig A. Koons & his wife Deborah of Clayton, Delaware, a brother, Carl “Skip” Koons & his wife Alice of Jim Thorpe, 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Allison, Jason, Jaime, 2 great-grandchildren, Jasper & Heron, a close nephew, Donald Koons, & other nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Delores Simmons, Jean Hottenstein, 3 brothers, Charles,Arnold & Donald Koons, & a stepbrother, Harold Doll. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor for his family & friends will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 6th at 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 260 North 3rd Street, Lehighton with the Reverend Christopher M. Zelonis M. Div. officiating. No calling hours. Interment following the Mass in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery N. 4th St. with full military honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO.
