Mr. Charles S. Ovsak, 96, formerly of Stedman Avenue, Lehighton, passed away Friday, February 16th at Weatherwood, Weatherly, Pa. He was the husband of the late Stella (Pritko) Ovsak who died October 11, 2009. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Andrew & Mary (Bobenich) Ovsak. Charley served our country with the United States Army during WW II attaining the rank of Tech 5 with Battery B, 153rd Pa Battalion.,1st Cavalry Division. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars after enemy engagement.Prior to his retirement, he was the store manager of Palmerton Auto Parts. He was a member of St. Vladimir Greek Catholic Church, Palmerton where he volunteered his time with the Wednesday Night Bingo and the Pierogie sales. He was a member of The Lehighton American Legion Post 314. Surviving is a daughter, Sheila M.,wife of Eric G. Koch of Prospect, Connecticut, a grandson, Quincy M. Koch, of Boone, North Carolina, nieces & nephews. The last remaining member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by 7 sisters, Mary Tarapchak, Helen Rice, Julia Green, Anna DeFrehn, Veronica Gallagher, Cecilia McLaughlin, Margaret Ovsak, & 2 brothers, John & Andrew Ovsak. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 23 at 10 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Reverend Vlodomir Baran officiating. Call 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, North 4th Street, Lehighton with full military honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO.
