Carmen A. Ciavaglia, 87, of Mahoning Valley, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, December 07, 2022, surrounded by his family, in his residence. He was the husband of the late Shirley L. (Petro) Ciavaglia who passed away October 06, 2022. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Anthony and G. Catherine (Laskos) Ciavaglia. He was employed as the owner/operator of the former Penn Hill Furniture in Jim Thorpe and Weissport until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton. He was an umpire for the Panther Valley Little League in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He enjoyed hunting, playing in dart leagues, and playing in softball leagues. Carmen loved spending time landscaping his own property and taking care of his vegetable garden.
Surviving are two daughters Carol Ciavaglia of Mahanoy City and Toni Louise Ciavaglia of Mahoning Valley; two brothers James and his wife Vera of N.J. and Michael of Lehighton; three grandchildren Trudy and Raymond Anderson and Carolyn Woodring all of Mahanoy City; 9 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Geraldine Petro and brothers Joseph, John, and Robert Ciavaglia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 260 N. Third St., Lehighton PA, with Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomingdale. Call Monday morning 10-11:00 A.M. in the Church. Online condolences will be accepted at www.ovsakfh.com
