Michael Kobal Obituary

Michael D. "Butch" Kobal of Nis Hollow, passed into eternal rest on Sun. November 23 at the LVHN Carbon Campus after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Cynthia (Zellner) Kobal who passed on 12/27/23. He was born on Thursday, March 26, 1942 and the son of Michael and Pauline (Schafer) Kobal. He grew up in Franklin Township and was a 1959 graduate of Lehighton High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the New Jersey Zinc Co. Railroad, Victaulic Corp. of America, George's Transportation and Pocono Whitewater rafting. "Butch" enjoyed nature and loved to go hunting, fishing, and trapping with his family and friends, especially with his best friend Ronnie Rehrig. He also enjoyed going on Camping trips to Lake Ontario. He was a life member of the NRA, and the Nis Hollow Hunting Club where he had many enjoyable moments enjoying some beers and socializing. He always had a special gift of thoroughly explaining things to people in a way that everyone could understand. He was also a member of the Lehighton American Legion Post 314 and a member of the Vietnam Last Man's Club. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter Tammy Jean Kobal 12/10/83. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Kobal. Grandchildren; Dillon, Lexus, and Annaliese. Great Grandchildren; Carter, Camden, Michael, Elena, Luke, Leroy, and Brayden. And many cousins. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date in the Spring.
