Melvin Henry Keil III (Mel) passed from this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus.

Born in Annapolis, MD he was the son of the late Melvin H. Keil Jr. (FL), and late Sharon (Steudl) Keil (MD), and is preceded in death by brother, Michael Ruth (MD).

In his early years, Mel enjoyed playing baseball and motocross racing and hanging out with his many friends. He attended Saverna Park Highschool in Maryland.

Mel’s early vocation began in HVAC where he worked on many projects as a lead installer, as well as landscaping services.

Later life brought Mel to Pennsylvania where he met his wife, Michelle (Sawyer) Keil, and would be celebrating 9 years of marriage this Wednesday, September 10th.  Shortly after their marriage they, together, opened their coffee business, Keil & Company (formally UnCommon Grounds, Ltd) which they, with the help of many family, friends and team members, operated for 8 years before closing this year.  Mel loved serving, chatting and joking with his many customers turned friends.

In his free time, Mel loved spending time and joking with his friends and family, playing with his dogs (Mischief and Mayhem), listening to music, camping, visiting the beach and supporting the causes he believed in.

Mel is survived by his wife, Michelle (Sawyer) Keil (PA), his daughter and son, Madison Keil and Melvin H. Keil IV (DE), step-daughter Shannon Harris (PA), and step-mother Lois Keil (FL), as well as the many friends that joined him on his journey in this life.

A celebration of life gathering is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th at the Blue Mt. Drive-In in Danielsville, PA.  Details to follow.
