Mary Levendusky Obituary

Born in 1935 in Palmerton, PA to Derwin Daugherty and Claire McClean Daugherty,  MaryFay  grew up in Lehighton, PA with her beloved younger sister Mildred. She graduated from Lehighton High School in 1952 (with honors and gave the Commencement speech at graduation). During High school MaryFay was very active in the drama club, choir, and cheerleading. She went on to attend Allentown Nursing School on a scholastic scholarship.  Following graduation from Nursing school she worked at Allentown General Hospital until, in 1957, she married Edmund Levendusky.  The two moved to Philadelphia while Edmund attended Temple Dental School and MaryFay worked at Temple Hospital.
The couple welcomed their first child in October of 1957 and upon graduation at Temple Dental school, Edmund enlisted in the United States Army and the family moved to Fort Bragg North Carolina. The couple welcomed their second son (Steven) while at Fort Bragg in 1962. Upon Discharge from the Army, the family moved to Allentown PA where Edmund began his career practicing dentistry in Emmaus PA. Their third child (daughter Lisa) was born soon after.
MaryFay later moved back to Lehighton in 1982 and resided on 3rd street until 2024. MaryFay was an active member of the All Saints Episcopal Church and actively practiced her faith. She worked for several years in the Lehighton and Palmerton school Districts as a teacher’s aide as well as a school Nurse. MaryFay volunteered for the Blood Mobile, the church vestry, sesquicentennial committee for Lehighton’s 150th anniversary, and substituted as a Sunday School teacher.
MaryFay also cherished time spent with friends and family. She enjoyed living in a small town and the beauty of the outdoors. She considered herself a “people” person as well as a proud mother to her children.
MaryFay  is survived by her son Edmund (Mary) Levendusky; son Steven Levendusky; daughter Lisa and her husband John Lawlor; her sister Mildred Koons; her nephew Greg Koons; her niece Sharon (Doug) Focht, along with their children as well as 5 step grandchildren.
