Mr. Leonard J. Mikulski, 83, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 18th at St. Luke's Hospital-Carbon Campus. He was the husband of Sharon A. (Bierman) Mikulski. They were married for 35 years on July 21st of this year. Born in Summit Hill, Pa. on Oct. 20, 1940, he was a son of the late Joseph & Angela (Yellen) Mikulski. He served our country with the US Navy during the Viet Nam War attaining the rank of AMEAN. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Lehighton. He served the general public as the senior staff member of The Ovsak Funeral Home for over 24 years. Lenny was an active parishioner of SS Peter & Paul RC Church Lehighton. He was a member of the Knights Of Columbus 15682/Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church Bethlehem where he held the position of Inside Guard. He held a membership at The Lehighton American Legion Post 314, and the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid Penn State & Pittsburgh Steelers football fan, and assisted as a CYO basketball coach. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Robert L. Mikulski (Kathy) of Lehighton, a twin brother, Bernard Mikulski (Rita) of Bethlehem, a sister, Mary Ann Karnish of Lansford, 5 godchildren, 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Ronald Mikulski. A Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24th at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 260 N. 3rd St., Lehighton with the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis & Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr. officiating. call 9:30-11 a.m. in the church. Military Interment in the parish cemetery following the Mass under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO.
