Keith Strohl Obituary

Keith N. Strohl, 73, of Franklin Township passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2022 at St. Luke’s Carbon intensive care unit.  Keith was born in Palmerton on January 13, 1949 and raised in Big Creek on a farm that he had fond memories of.  He was the son of the late Joel and Carrie (Haman) Strohl.  He was happily married to Susan (Borger) Strohl of Lehighton and was just shy of celebrating 50 years of marriage since July 7, 1973.  He was a 1966 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Lehigh University where he obtained a degree in chemical engineering.  He was an assistant superintendent of the Coke Works for Bethlehem Steel from 1970 up until their closure in 1998.  You would always see him sporting his Bethlehem Steel apparel.  His most recent employment was a courier for First Northern Bank of Palmerton where he worked up until this acute illness.

Keith was a lifetime member of the Big Creek Grange, St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Big Creek, Franklin Fire Company as well as Parryville Fire Company.  He was passionate about ancestry and genealogy and was president of the annual Strohl Reunion.  Besides raising his family of five children, he volunteered throughout the years with coaching knee high football as well as baseball and softball.  In his spare time he enjoyed archery, hunting and capturing wild life photos on his trail cams.  He spent quality time with family at his cabin in Bradford County and enjoyed a yearly vacation to the Troy Fair.  Other hobbies included gardening, watching football and photography.  He always managed to take tons of photos of families and events throughout the years.  He always enjoyed a good meal especially breakfast and a cup of coffee.  Since he married a twin, everything was always better on a double date with his sister in law Anna and her husband Carl Smith with whom they shared very cherished memories throughout the years.  He loved his family above all especially being a Pap pap to his grandson Palmer who was very special to him as well as numerous granddogs, most of which were schnauzers.

He is survived by his spouse Susan (Borger) formerly of Parryville who resides at their home in Franklin Township; son Michael K. Strohl (Lehighton); daughter Melissa Leaser, wife of Marshall Leaser (Mahoning Township); daughter Amy Breisch, wife of the late Michael Breisch (Lehighton); daughter Kimberly Olving, wife of Mark Olving (Summit Hill); daughter Kristi Berger (Lehighton); grandson Palmer Olving; sister Joan and brother-in-law George Miller of Lehighton; godson Ross Smith (Lehighton), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private with family.  Donations in Keith’s honor can be contributed to the Big Creek Grange in Lehighton, Franklin Township Fire Co and Parryville Fire C
