John Gilbert Obituary

Mr. John E. “Jack” Gilbert, 84, of Mahoning Township, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, Nov. 21st at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall, Pa. He was the husband of Suzanne M. (Tichborne) Gilbert. They were married for 61 years this past May 7th, 2021. Born in Lehighton , Pa. on Sunday, Sept. 12th, 1937, he was the son of the late George M. & Margaret E. (Miller) Gilbert. Jack attended SS Peter & Paul Parochial School in Lehighton and was a 1955 graduate of the Lehighton Area High School. He served our country with the US Army during the Viet Nam War attaining the rank of SP4 (T). He attended Villanova University & later attended Kutztown University where he played on the university football team. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Nationwide Insurance Company as a claims field representative specializing in the disaster claims line. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul RC Church Lehighton & The Lehighton American Legion Post 314. He loved doing yardwork, home/grounds maintenance and trips to Florida. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Timothy J. Gilbert & his wife Fran of Lake Hauto, a daughter, Kathryn S. Warner of Texas, 2 granddaughters, Kristina Gilbert of Lake Hauto, Alexandra Warner Voecks (Ryan) of Georgia. Services & Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
