James Logue Sr. Obituary

James Gerald Logue Sr, former resident of East Penn Township, died November 7, 2022 at Weatherwood Nursing Home. He was 93. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jim was the son of the late Daniel Amandus and Emma Sarah (Cone) Logue. Jim had a love for westerns and horses. This led him to purchase a Pinto gelding and named him after one of his favorite movie characters of the day, Davy Crockett. Jim boarded Davy at Al’s Riding Academy in Philadelphia. It was there where he met his future bride, Lorraine Serfass and her horse, Bobby. Jim and Lorraine were married on June 20, 1959 in Philadelphia. They moved to East Penn Township in 1963, to pursue their dreams of owning a horse farm. Jim was employed as a television repairman. Follweilers, Ace Electric and Mount Airy Lodge were among some of the establishments he worked for over the years. He also volunteered as a Fire Policeman with the Mahoning Valley Fire Company, East Penn Fire Company and the Carbon County Fire Police. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Jim also was a talented amateur photographer and loved driving around Carbon County shooting many pictures of landscapes and trains. Surviving Jim is his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Patricia, wife of Ryan Rohn of Montfort, WI; son James Logue Jr., of Jim Thorpe, PA; stepdaughter, Dianne Minnich, of Douglasville, GA, granddaughter, Valerie Hand, wife of Ross Gundlach of Madison, WI; step granddaughters, Amanda, wife of John Crider of Reynoldsburg, OH; Lindsay Minnich of Dallas, TX; step grandson, John Minnich and his wife Jessica of Niceville, FL; step great grandchildren, Mike and Andy Crider and Ella Minnich; a sister, Kathleen (Logue) Wynn, of Honeybrook, PA; nephew, John Logue of Malvern, PA, sister-in-laws Lucille Clay, and Sandra DiGenova and brother-in-law, Philip Serfass. Jim was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Daniel A. Logue, Jr.; and a nephew, Patrick MacEwan and brother-in-law, Jerry Serfass, & a son in law, Robert A. Minnich. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will be held on Thursday, November 17th at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 3rd & Coal St., Lehighton with the Reverend Christopher M. Zelonis officiating. Interment following the Memorial Mass in the parish cemetery, N 4th St., Lehighton. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Ss Peter & Paul's St. Vincent de Paul Societ. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
