Helen Miller Obituary

Helen  K. Miller, Centenarian, wife of the late Russell R. Miller Sr. passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 in Maple Shade Personal Care Home In Nesquehoning. She was born on April 9, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Esther (Hallahan) Kotch.  She graduated from Nesquehoning High School in 1936 and entered Palmerton Hospital School of Nursing that same year. After her graduation in 1939 she pursued post-graduate work at Philadelphia Lying Inn Hospital, becoming certified in obstetrics. She also trained at both Crozier and Fox Chase Hospitals. She started her career as an RN at Palmerton Hospital for the next 11 years, then became the 3-11 supervisor for the next 32 years until her retirement. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, John, and a sister Peg, the wife of the late George Lorah of Lansford Pa. Her survivors include a son, Russell R. Miller Jr. and his wife Sandra, two grandsons, Scott C. Miller and his wife Melissa, and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, wife of Jason Schleicher, Emily Miller, and Hailey Miller. Grandson, Terry L. Miller and his wife, Betty Jean, and her daughter Brynn. Also a nephew George Lorah and his wife Chris, and their three children, Megan Lorah, Matthew Lorah, and his wife Cari, and Melissa and her husband Joseph Matera, also a niece, Joan and her husband George Kulanko, and their daughters, Alex and Samantha. She was a former member of Meeds Memorial Methodist Church in Nesquehoning and a current member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton. Services will be graveside in Sky View Memorial Park, Route 54, Hometown Pa. Tuesday October 16th at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Nancy L. Moore officiating.
