1943 - 2025

Greta Smith, 82, of Lehighton, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 17, 2025 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Donald J. Smith who passed away August 12, 1993. Born in Greenock, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Wallace Duncan) Mullan. She is preceded in death by her son, Scott J. Smith Sr. who passed away May 4, 2000.

She was employed as a seamstress for Scotty’s Fashions and lastly was employed as a fitting room attendant for Walmart in Lehighton prior to her retirement, where she became affectionately known as the voice of Walmart. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Lehighton and avid donator to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  Her kind heart and willingness to help others will not be forgotten. She was beloved by all who knew her and took great joy in being a Mum Mum both to her own grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all those who loved her and considered her their Mum Mum as well.

Surviving are a granddaughter Amanda Zellner and her husband Brandon of Lehighton, grandson Scott Smith Jr. and his wife Nora of Lehighton; and a daughter in law Mary Ann Smith of Lehighton. In addition, great grandchildren Tilly and Malcolm Smith, and Everly Zellner, all of whom were her pride and joy. 

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025 in the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. 4th St. Lehighton PA 18235. Burial will take place privately in SS Peter and Pauls Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
