Fiore Giordano

Fiore Enrico Giordano, 90, of Jim Thorpe, passed away October 29th, 2021. Fiore was born in Harlem New York on April 10th, 1931, to Enrico and Josephine Giordano. As an early teenager he was a three-time boys club boxing campion. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Korea, where he fought in the artillery division. Upon being wounded in combat he received a purple heart as well as the Bronze star with Presidential citation. After the military Fiore worked tirelessly as a Bank guard for 30 years at Apple Bank in Harlem New York. He was awarded numerous times for stopping armed robberies in the line of work. As a self-taught carpenter, he did all the repairs and woodwork in this home where he raised his family.

              Fiore will be remembered for his incredible stories of bravery and past adventures as well as his unfailing love for his family. Making fried pizza, fruit salads, and incredible ice cream Sundays were a regular part of growing up in the Giordano family. Vacationing in the Poconos, as well as the weekend trips for breakfast to the local dinners were memories he lived for. He also enjoyed tending his garden while listening to his favorite opera singers.

 Fiore is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie; his children Enrico, Jackie, and Christopher, his sisters Hellen Pizzolo and Jean Rimi, his grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher and Justin Mazzella, Kimberly Varano, Veronica and Eric Giordano, as well as his great grandchildren, Brielle, Fiore, and Layla Mazzella. He was preceded in death by his daughter Darlene Varano, and his granddaughter Nicole Varano.

Eulogies & shared memories will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton followed by full Military Honors under the direction of The Lehighton Area UVO.
