Elaine R. (Steigerwalt) Sowers

Mrs. Elaine R. Sowers, 86, of Andreas, Pa. passed into eternal rest on Wed. May 29th at her residence. She was the wife of the late Franklin J. "Boop" Sowers for over 47 years, and the current wife of John Costenbader. Born in Andreas, Pa. on July 20, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Irvin & Mabel (Hartman) Steigerwalt. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Brights Dept. Stores as a storeroom clerk and previously worked at Morgan Knitting & Peerless Mills. She was a member of Ben Salem UCC and was a Life member of the Andreas Sporting Club. She was an avid BINGO and card player. Surviving is a son Franklin I. Sowers & his wife Ellen of Andreas, 2 daughters, Michelle, wife of Mark Generella of Andreas, Jennifer, wife of Scott Guinther of McKeansburg, a sister Janice Jeck of Snyders, 4 grandchildren, Angela, Dawn, Nash, & Franklin, Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis Kobal, Mae Womer, & brothers ,Ernest, Curtis, Luther "Dewey", Hilbert, & Bruce Steigerwalt. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 4th at 11 a.m. at Ben Salem Church, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton with the Rev, Randy Lentz officiating. Call 10-11 a.m. in the church. Interment in Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, Ashfield, Pa. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ben Salem Church, PO Box 128 Andreas, Pa. 18211.
