Edward T. Marzen
1927 - 2025
Edward T. Marzen, 98, of Towamensing Twp. entered into eternal rest Monday, June 02, 2025 surrounded by his family in his residence. He was the husband of the late Helen C. (Roos) Marzen who passed away March 27, 2024. Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was the last survivor of 13 children to the late John A. and Amelia (Engler) Marzen. Edward and his brother George were partners/owners/operators of Marzen Feed and Hardware in Lehighton, where he worked for 75 years until the age of 95. He was a United States Army Air Force Veteran serving during World War II, stationed in Newfoundland. He was a member and the oldest parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was a past member of the church choir, Lector, and Eucharistic minister. Edward was also a member of the Jim Thorpe American Legion and was a 60 plus year attendee of the Man of Malvern.
Surviving are a daughter Diane Figueroa of Allentown, and sons Edward and his wife Cathy of Andreas, Michael and his wife Mary of Jim Thorpe, John and his wife Bernadette of Lehighton, and Carl and his wife Mary of Lehighton, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Swierczek, sisters Anna Marzen, Margaret Marzen and Sister Mary Marzen SCC, and brothers William, John, James J., Leonard, Mgsr. Joseph, Robert, Frank, James F. and George.
A Mass of Christian Bural will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 260 N. 3rd St. Lehighton, PA 18235 with Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis and Deacon Joseph Wilhelm officiating. Military interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Lehighton. Visitation Monday morning 9-10:30 A.M. in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his name to the church. The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
