Dawne S. Ladeas, 79, of Tannersville, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 09, 2023 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg campus.
She was born on June 27, 1944 at the former Palmerton Hospital to the late Marcus K. and Ferne E. (Berner) Sensinger.
She was baptized, confirmed, and married in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning. She also attended Sunday school as a child and later taught youth and adult classes at St John’s. Dawne was also very active in fundraisers at both St. John’s and St. Paul’s, Tannersville.
She was a graduate of Lehighton High School class of 1962.
She then attended Mansfield State College and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Home Economics. While at Mansfield she enrolled in the international Farm Youth exchange to Turkey. After college Dawne worked for the Cooperative Extension Service at Penn State University and eventually moved to Astoria, NY while Penn Stroud was being rebuilt.
Dawne was married to Soterios “Steve” Ladeas in 1973 and settled in Stroudsburg once Penn Stroud was completed. They welcomed their daughter Athanasia Elizabeth in October of 1974. Over the next few years Dawne waitressed at Broadway Diner, was a substitute and eventual full-time teacher at Lehighton School District. During this time, she also pursued a Master’s Degree from Marywood College in Food and Nutrition eventually becoming a Registered Dietician and working in the food industry at the former Gnaden Huetten and former Palmerton Hospitals until retirement in 2008.
Surviving are a daughter Athanasia “Stacey” Ladeas and Fiancé Alfred Hayes of Tannersville; a sister Anne and husband Drew Yenser of Lehighton; a brother Vaughn Sensinger and his wife Phyllis of Utah; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and her beloved cat Luci.
A funeral service will be held Monday December 18th 2023 at 11AM in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 826 Mahoning Dr. West, Lehighton, PA 18235 with Pastor Anthony Pagotto. Interment will follow in St. John’s cemetery, Lehighton.
Family will receive friends Monday morning from 10 – 11 AM in the church. In lieu of flowers donations will be accepted in her name to the church. The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Online condolence www.ovsakfh.com.
