“Stretch” Semmel
David Semmel, 62, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Friday April 16th, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
Born on August 2nd, 1958, he was the son of Dolores (Fogel) and (late) Lamar Semmel. After graduating from Lehighton Area High School in 1976, David proudly joined the PA Army National Guard in which he served honorably for 20 years attaining rank as Staff Sergeant. During this time, he also worked various jobs in construction and for a sanitation company. He was of Lutheran faith and formerly attended church services at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning. David held social memberships at The Lehighton Orioles Nest #183 and The Lehighton Fire Company No. 5 where he looked forward to meeting up and talking with friends and family.
David was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing darts. He was an avid fan of The NY Mets, NFL Raiders, Notre Dame College sports, and NASCAR. David loved to make people laugh and was constantly a jokester. Listening to music and spending time with his family and friends was something he appreciated as well as hanging out with his side kicks, Diane, Gina, and Janel.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son Cody Semmel, a daughter, Kylee Semmel, a daughter, Jodi Semmel, fiancé of Jaroe, a daughter, Jamie Semmel, fiancé of Natasha, a brother, Dennis Semmel, wife of Cheryl, four grandchildren: Vincent, Zion, Ajahlee, and Damonte, and two nephews, Austin, and Brandon. He was predeceased by his father, Lamar, and stepson, Tristan Wentz.
Service: A Celebration of Life service will begin at 6 p.m. along with a military honor service, Friday evening, May 7th, at The Orioles Community Center, 475 Orioles Dr. Suite E., Lehighton, PA 18235. Online condolences or a fond memory can be made at www.ovsakfh.com.
