Curtis F. Snyder Jr., 81, of Lehighton, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 16, 2025 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus. He was the husband of Susan H. (Ryan) Snyder. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on November 16th of last year. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Gladys (Whiteman) Snyder Nothstein and Dad Harold C. Nothstein and a step son of Shirley Nothstein of Jim Thorpe. He was employed as a truckdriver for Schwerman Trucking Co. for 15 years and then was a salesman and manger of Snyder Tire Co. in Lehighton for over 13 years until his retirement. He was an Untied States Veteran serving as Captain during the Vietnam War and then earned the rank of Major in the National Guard. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of Carbon County, the Vietnam Last Mans Club, and the Lehighton American Legion Post 314. He was also a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton where he was involved in the Food Pantry. Curtis was a fanatic for NASCAR and passed away on the same day as the Daytona 500.
Surviving along with his wife Susan are a daughter Rachel S. Snyder of Louisville, KY; brothers Robert Snyder of Lehighton and Gerald Snyder of Nesquehoning; a step-brother Harold Nothstein of Lehighton; step-sisters Cheryl Ann Lloyd of Manheim, PA and Sherry Waselus and her husband Brian of Jim Thorpe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Dolores Slivka, Momsy and Pappy Joe.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St. Lehighton, PA 18235 with LLM Kathy Long officiating. Interment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at a later date. Family will received friends Wednesday morning from 10-11:00 A.M. in the church.
