Charles G. Wade, 83, of Lehighton, entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 24, 2022 inLehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus. He was the husband of Judith (Findley) Wade. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 20th of this year.
Born on December 8, 1938, in Spring City, PA, Charles was a son of the late George and Helen (Troutman) Wade. He was a graduate of Spring-Ford High School Class of 1956. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Ursinus College in 1960 and went on to complete a Master’s degree at the University of Delaware.
His career path took him to Atlas Powder Company near Tamaqua, where he researched and developed explosive emulsions until his retirement in 1994. He spent several more years working as a well-known and well-respected consultant in the commercial explosives industry. He had friends around the world as his work took him to many countries including South Korea, Russia, Sweden, and the UK.
Charles was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Franklin Township, where he was past council president, past president of the cemetery board, a member of the church council, church stewardship committee, and the church finance committee. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed competing in bowling leagues. Charles also liked to read, especially while puffing on a cigar or sipping a glass of bourbon.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Jennifer D. Wade of Kingston, PA and Elizabeth Wade-Ellis and her husband Matthew Shawn Sr. of Irwin, PA; and a brother, Glenn Wade of Jackson, MO.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother, George Wade of Springfield, VA.
A Celebration of life with a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 in St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Chruch, 222 Church St., Lehighton, PA 18235 with Rev. Michael A. Frost officiating. Family will receive friends 10-11:00 A.M. in the church. Donations will be accepted in his name to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 222 Church St., Lehighton, PA 18235. Andrew P.
