Charles P. Pollock
1947 - 2024
Charles P. “Chuck” Pollock, 77, of Mahoning Valley Township, passed away Thursday, June 20th, 2024, after an extended battle with kidney and heart disease.
Born in Mahoning Valley, Chuck was a son of the late Nelson and Margaret (Kresge) Pollock and younger brother to the late Jackie Pollock and Ned Pollock. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Sharee Pudvah, his daughter, Attorney Stacy Jane (Pollock) Schaefer, son-in-law Alexander, grandson Morgan William Schaefer, his stepson Anthony Pudvah, and stepdaughters Amber, Teresa, and Nicole, grandson Caleb, and granddaughter Olivia.
Chuck’s life was marked by close ties to his community. He was a proud life-long member of Mahoning Valley Fire Company No. 1, which he joined in 1965, and in 2022, was honored as the company’s longest-serving member. During his 50+ years with the Fire Company, Chuck had served as Fire Chief and as President. Chuck was also a member of the Penn Mahoning Ambulance Association, a Pennsylvania State Forest Fire Warden, and served in other numerous civic positions throughout his life, including most recently as Mahoning Township’s Zoning Board Chairman and as an Elections Judge.
An avid racer of stock cars and standout fullback for his high school football team, Chuck graduated from Lehighton High School in 1967 and matriculated at Lehigh Community College. Chuck’s love of football and racing endured well past graduation: he remained an enthusiastic fan of Lehighton and Jim Thorpe high schools’ football and basketball programs, and during the 1990s he was the owner and proprietor of the Mahoning Valley Speedway. And in the last decade, Chuck regularly traveled 3+ hours to cheer on his grandson Morgan’s weekend football games in Annapolis, Maryland.
Chuck’s love of life, all things family, community, and Mahoning Valley, will be deeply missed.
