Barbara E. (McFarland) Miller

Barbara Miller, 78 years of age, of Palmerton, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. 

Born on November 13, 1945 in West Bowmans (Kittatinny), Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late William and Emma (Neff) McFarland.  Barbara was predeceased by her husband Richard Miller and by her many brothers and sisters, Clair McFarland, Lena (McFarland) Smith, Robert McFarland, Norwood McFarland, Alfred McFarland, Norman McFarland, John McFarland, William McFarland, Harold McFarland, Herman McFarland and Martha (McFarland) Berger.

Surviving are her sisters, Irene R. Schoch (Wife of the late Harold A. Schoch) and Eleanor Zellner and her husband Rodger L. Zellner, Sr.

A lifelong resident of Carbon County, Barbara and her husband operated a textile mill in Lehighton.  Barbara then went on to work many years in the textile industry including many years at Scottie’s Fashions in Palmerton.  Barbara was an avid card player and reader and spent many vacations traveling with her late husband.

Her greatest time was spent with her family, and she had a great love for all of her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home at 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton, PA  18235.

Visiting will begin at 10:00 and Church service will be held 11:00 on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Emmanuel UCC at 509 Hamilton Ave., Bowmanstown, PA  18030 with luncheon to follow.
