Mrs. Roberta L. (Steigerwalt) Smith

Mrs. Roberta L. Smith, 76, of West Penn Township passed away Sunday, October 8th at her residence with her loving husband & family at her side. She was the wife of Larry R. Smith Sr. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 3rd of this year. Born in Weissport, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Pansy (Hinger) Steigerwalt & the step-daughter of  Russell Steigerwalt of Walnutport, Pa. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for many years and most recently was employed as a Hostess for Saylor’s Diner, Allentown, Pa. She was a member of People’s Evangelical Congregational Church, East Weissport, and was a member of The Red Hat Society. She  previously volunteered her time as a Brownie & Girl Scout leader. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling in the Allentown, Pa. area, playing Bingo, and working with Ceramics. Surviving in addition to her husband are 3 daughters, Veronica Bickert & her fiancé, Terry Weaver of Danielsville, Pa., Sandra, wife of Kenneth Dengler of Kempton, Pa., Brenda, wife of Harry Hubbard of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a son, Larry R. Smith Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a half-brother, Richard Steigerwat & his wife Linda, of Hereford, Pa. 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a half-brother, Russell Steigerwalt, & a great-grandson, Brent Heintzelman.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 11 a.m. at The Andrew P. Ovsak FH, 190 South 4th Street, Lehighton Pa. with Chaplain Michaelene Ross officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
