Mrs. Jeanette B. (Belgrash) Slaw

Mrs. Jeanette B. Slaw, 84, of Lehighton Pa., passed away Tuesday, June 19th at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Slaw Sr. who passed away April 13, 1999. Born in Bethlehem, Pa. on Wed. Sept. 13, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas & Marie (Schwartz) Belgrash. She and her late husband were the founders of JR Slaw Pre-Cast Concrete Products Inc. where she served as president. Jeanette was a very active parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton. She was the founder and president of the Carbon County Chapter of the Pa. Prison Society. An avid artist & sculptor, she hand-made the Pieta located in the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Lehighton. Surviving are 2 daughters, Robin A. Slaw of Columbia, Maryland, Jennifer Vandermeer of Lehighton, 3 sons Robert A. Slaw Jr. & his wife Donna, Christopher Slaw, Timothy Slaw & his wife Candace of Lehighton, 9 grandchildren, Robert III, Alanna, Stephanie, Sarah, Marlena, Ethan, Alexander, Kaia, & Benjamin. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Beatrice Turner, Marie Swengel & a nephew, William Swengel. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 242 North 3rd St., Lehighton with the Reverend Michael E. Ahrensfield officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
