Mrs. Barbara A. (Hand) Balliet

Mrs. Barbara A. (Hand) Balliet, 81, of Lower Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, November 17th at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa. She was the wife of Franklin R. Balliet. They were married for 56 years on April 1st 2017. Born in Parryville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John & Ursula (Hagenbuch) Hand. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a clerical specialist for the Pennsylvania State Government in the local unemployment office. She previously worked in the same capacity for the New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, Pennsylvania. Barbara was of the reformed faith and attended church services at St. Peter’s United Church Of Christ, Parryville, Pa. Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Scott Balliet & his wife Robin of Mosely, Virginia, a daughter, Kelly, wife of Kevin Slack of Bethlehem , Pennsylvania, 3 grandchildren, Brandon Balliet, Ryan Pelaez, Noah Michlovsky, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Laurie, & 2 sisters, Lois Dieter, & Jeanette Hand. A Celebration of Life Service in her honor will be held on Friday, November 24th at 11 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 South 4th Street, Lehighton, Pa. with SALM Emma Weaver officiating. Call 9:30-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, Ashfield, Pa. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to a charity of choice.
