Mr. Roger Smith Obituary

Mr. Roger E. Smith, 55, of East Weissport, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 29 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Karen L. (Smith) Smith. They were married for 8 years last December 18th, 2018. Born on Sunday, October 20th, 1963 in Palmerton, Pa., he was a son of Delbert & Janet (George) Smith of Lehighton. He was currently employed as a Materials Technician at Mack Trucks, Macungie and previously was employed as a Supervisor for JR Slaw pre-cast concrete products, Bowmanstown and as a crane operator for All Trade Construction, Palmerton, Pa. He was of the Lutheran Faith. An avid outdoorsman/hunter, Roger held memberships at Palmerton Rod & Gun Club & Indian Mountain Rod & Gun Club. A very loving & devoted son, husband, father & grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his loving wife & family. In his spare time, he could be found cruising with his Harley Davidson, his 1955 Chevy Pick-up, or his 1972 Oldsmobile.  Surviving in addition to his wife & parents is a daughter, Bobbi-Jo, wife of Adam Heckroth of Perkiomenville, a brother, David Smith, of Lehighton, a granddaughter, Madison, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Brian Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at 10 a.m. at The Ovsak FH, 190 S. 4th St., Lehighton with the Reverend Michael A. Frost officiating. Call Friday evening Feb. 1st from 6-8 p.m. and 9-10 a.m. Sat. Feb.  2nd at the funeral home. Interment following the services in Franklin Heights Memorial Park, East Weissport. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 222 Church Street, Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
