Mr. James Davis Obituary

Mr. James D. Davis, 92, of Lehighton, passed away Tuesday, June 12th at St. Luke’s Hospital-Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Gross) Davis who passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015. Born in Bowmanstown, Pa. on Tuesday, May 18, 1926, he was a son of the late Harry  & Viola (Remaley) Davis. He served our country with the US Navy during WW II attaining the rank of 3rd Class Motor Machinist’s Mate while serving on the USS Taconic during the European Theater of operations. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Penn Fuel in Pennsylvania Gas Management. He previously had worked at The New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, The Bethlehem Steel Corporation and also in the plumbing & heating trade. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Big Creek, The Lehighton American Legion Post 314 and held a Life Membership at The Nis Hollow Hunting Club.  He was an avid Golfer and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting & fishing. Surviving is a daughter, Karen, wife of Earl Heiland of Lehighton, 5 step-children, Jeff Rubin & his wife Laura of Arizona, Adrian Rubin of Arizona, Sharlene, wife of Wayne Tharp, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Derrick Rubin, and his wife Kim, of Lehighton, Brian Rubin & his wife Lisa, of Lehighton, a sister, Ruth Beidleman of Lehighton, grandchildren, Kelly, Derrick, Brian, Alex, Amey, Ronny, Sarah, Melissa, Elizabeth, Shawn,  A.J., nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Launa Frable, a sister, Mary Farber, & a brother, David Davis, and a grandson Justin. Funeral Services & Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. of Pa., 57 North Franklin St. Wilkes Barre, Pa. 18701. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com
