Joseph R. , Muffley . Obituary

Joseph R. Muffley, 84, of 114 Pitt St. Tamaqua, Pa. passed away Sat. Feb. 11th at the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Edith M. Dressler Muffley. They were married for 61 years last Oct. 14th. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Raymond & Ruth Betz Muffley. He served our country during WW II in the US Army from 1944 until 1946 with the 1060th AAF Base Unit. He later transferred to the 831st Engineering Aviation Battalion, serving from 1946 until 1947 in the European Theater of Operations attaining the rank of PFC. He earned a certificate in drafting from Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia and later worked as a draftsman for the Perlstein Co. Philadelphia. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Joe’s Arco and Automotive Repair at 7th & Mahoning Streets, Lehighton. He was a member of Zion UCC, Lehighton and The Lehighton American Legion Post 314. He loved spending time with his wife and family and enjoyed going out and having a good meal. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Linda K. wife of Brian Lapp of Lehighton, a son Dennis and his companion Rosanne Ziminsky of Lehighton, 2 nieces, & 1 nephew. He was predeceased by 1 brother Elwood “Woody” and a sister Margie Mriss. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced in the future.
